Audio/Visual

I’ve recently had the opportunity to add acting to my list of creative outlets. It’s great fun, and much more work than I thought it was. But the good news is that I’ve gotten to work with some really cool folks. Film and stage are very much collaborative works of art that require multiple artists to combine their creative energies while supporting, inspiring and helping one another.

The Doughnut Mafia(2024)

The Doughnut Mafia is a short film written and directed by J. Tyler Pennington, who I met through the Cincinnati Fiction Writers. He told me about this project in the early Summer of 2023, and said, “I’m still looking for a couple more goons.” My reply, “Well…, I could be a goon.” I’m the menacing goon with the black hat and black sunglasses. It was a hot and muggy Ohio day. Lot of work, but a lot of fun.

My own personal portfolio of audio/visual creations currently consists of these music videos. The videos are recent, but the music is from long ago. I’ve got a few more to upload. Stay tuned.

Silent Night (1982)

Ashmont Beat – Silent Night (The Best of the Ashmont Beat)

Jim Robbins and I were in three different bands together in the early 80’s. The Ashmont Beat was our duo effort. We did some interesting stuff. This is a video I made using shots I took in the vicinity of Oakley Square in Cincinnati around Christmastime 2013.

Number Three (1982)

Ashmont Beat – Number Three (The Best of the Ashmont Beat)

Number Three started as a poem. If I remember correctly I had a tune in my head for it, and then Jim and I put it to music and recorded this. I put this video together a week after the Silent Night video. I was on a tear!
