Quick Update
Been busy busy busy. Quick update on my work. Finished the first act of the screenplay, and my collaborator (currently anonymous) gave the nod to drive on and finish the script. Thought is that after we do some editing she will arrange some readings. So, perhaps in the September-October timeframe? Just guessing. And then we’ll see what we think. Pretty cool, eh?
Otherwise am continuing to work on novel #3.
And continuing to wait on the disposition of novel #2’s fate.
So, that’s about it for now. See you later.
Happy Holidays
It’s been a busy few months for me personally, as I wrap up the old day job, and prepare for the new day job as full-time novelist and creative person. I have lots going on. It’s a cliche to say one is blessed, but every day is a gift. We should never forget this.
Novel #2 is under review with a publisher, and hopefully we close the deal soon. We shall see.
Novel #3 is being written. Felix and Agatha. Such a love they have….
I am also honored to be collaborating on a screenplay with someone I met by accident. Throwing caution to the wind, I pitched a premise at her, and she liked it. She’s a busy actress/director/producer and I’ve been busy too, so we’ve slowly pushed the ball down the field, but we’ve made progress. It’s more than just a little cool. So we shall see.
I’m also in a unique position to help others, and I’m doing some of that too. Not only is it a way to build up some positive karma, but it helps you refine your own skills when you work outside your own little orbit.
Anyway, it’s been such a busy few months that I realized I have not posted in several months. That will change going forward. Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season.
5 months like zing!
Five months have passed by like zing! since my last post here at macmann.com. Arf.
Lots going on but little to say about it. I am such a slug.
Been writing and editing. Much editing. There will be more to say soon, I hope. But in the meantime I shall try to return to this site a little more often than every five months. Jeez.
I will say, quickly, that I was pleased to join a few of my close writer friends at Gem City Comic Con in Dayton a couple of weeks ago. We shared a few tables together, talked to potential readers, sold some books, and had a great time.
What more can one ask?
Acceptance of Darkest Emotions
Acceptance is not approval. It is acknowledgement of what is real. The things we feel are real, and when we say to ourselves (or someone says to us) “You aren’t feeling that” or “What you feel isn’t this or isn’t that” or “Haven’t you gotten over that yet?” or blah blah blah …….

“Coffee Break” published
My flash fiction story “Coffee Break” was published at Paper Djinn World a couple days ago. It’s a cute, little story, and in my view is also somewhat amusing. You might say it has a bit of twist at the end. Actually, yes, it does. Am I being sly? Perhaps.
Hope you enjoy it.
You know I love coffee.
I Resist the Temptation
Got an early Christmas present this morning in the form of an email. My poem titled “I Resist the Temptation” will be included in the anthology of verse titled Poetica 2 from Clarendon House Publications. Exact date is to be determined, but soon.
I wrote the poem, the first draft, in 1984 at Christmas. I was a young, wet-behind-the-ears Second Lieutenant with the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Hovey, Korea. It was the first time I’d spent the holidays away from family. However, not only was I away from home, but I was also on the other side of the world, and sleeping within artillery range of North Korea. We were a mere 15 miles from the DMZ.
Turkey Day Gratitude
I wrote this for Paper Djinn World’s Thanksgiving binge. It is flash fiction. Just a cute, little thing… with a twist. Enjoy the stuffing.

Wordsmith Chronicles now available
I’m pleased to share that my story “Sound Retreat” is included in the now released Wordsmith Chronicles. Available in print and Kindle-friendly formats.
I wrote the story specifically for this anthology. The requirement: main character is a writer. Other than that, let your imagination take you some place. So, my imagination took me to a hotel bar one morning. Who hasn’t talked with the voices in their head? Sometimes those conversations will take you places.
